The Valley & Vineyards
Nashik produces over 65% of India's wine. The high diurnal temperature shift (warm afternoons, cool Sahyadri night breezes) mimics the Rhône Valley. The tasting rooms range from industrial mega-destinations to intimate, family-run boutique barrel rooms.
Sula Vineyards
Established in 1999 by Rajeev Samant after studying in California, Sula put Nashik on the global wine map. Today it's India's most recognised winery — and still one of the best. The Winegrower's Tour (includes the barrel room) is the one to book. Stay for sunset at the hilltop tasting room. The two restaurants and on-site stays make this a full day or weekend. Sula Fest in February is India's best wine and music festival.
York Winery
Smaller, quieter, and more intimate than Sula. The tasting room sits above nine acres of vineyard with views of Gangapur Dam. The award-winning Sparkling Rosé and Chenin Blanc are exceptional. The guided cellar tour is genuinely educational. Book in advance on weekends — they cap group sizes.
Soma Vine Village
Stay overnight in barrel-style cottages and wake up inside a working vineyard. The infinity pool faces the hills. Wine tastings go straight from the barrel. One of Nashik's most unique experiences — more resort than winery, and worth the premium if you're celebrating something.
Grover Zampa Vineyards
The more understated choice — Grover Zampa's Nashik estate is quieter than Sula but the wines punch above their weight. The La Réserve range is worth seeking out. Good option if you want a tasting without the weekend crowds. The vineyard walk is guided and genuinely informative.
Grape Harvest Experience
Available January–March at several vineyards — Sula, York, and Soma all run harvest programmes. You pick, you stomp, you taste. The seasonal 4-hour experience includes a cellar tour and tasting of the last vintage. Genuinely hands-on and different from a standard tasting. Book direct with the vineyard.
